ARC Advisory Council

The Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator the Hon Kim Carr, announced the establishment of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Advisory Council in January 2008.

The Council provides advice to the Chief Executive Officer of the ARC on:

  • strategic issues relating to the mission of the ARC, including strategic planning;
  • policy matters relating to innovation, research and research training; and
  • matters relating to the evaluation of the quality and outcomes of research and research training in an international context.

The Council will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the ARC and have six other members who will be appointed, for periods of up to three years, on the basis of their distinguished research records or achievements in business research and development.
