Mr Len Marsden
Mr Len Marsden's career in the Australian Public Service has spanned more than 25 years. During the past 10 years he has worked for the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts; and the Australian Research Council.
Mr Marsden has extensive experience in financial management and auditing. He was Chief Internal Auditor at the Department of Industry, Science and Technology and a member of the audit committee monitoring the project and risk management plans for the construction of the National Museum of Australia.
Mr Marsden has held a number of positions in the Senior Executive Service of the Australian Public Service since 1998. Before joining the Australian Research Council, he worked for more than six years in the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts. During that period, he spent a significant amount of his time as General Manager Corporate Services, where he performed the duties of Chief Finance Officer and Chief Information Officer. Mr Marsden was also the General Manager Cultural Development in the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, which provided him the opportunity to work with, and gain insight into, the operations of some of Australia’s cultural institutions and advisory bodies.
Mr Marsden joined the Australian Research Council in July 2002 for the unique opportunity of working as part of the management team to establish the ARC as a key Commonwealth agency investing in research.
Mr Marsden has a Bachelor of Arts in Administration, Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies, Graduate Diploma in Professional Accountancy, and Company Directors Diploma. He is an associate member of CPA Australia and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
