Assessors

Peer reviewers play complementary roles through membership of either the ARC College of Experts, or as Assessors (previously separated into OzReaders (Australian based readers) and IntReaders (expert reviewers of international standing)).

ARC College of Experts

Nominations are invited from Universities and other Institutions each year. The Call for Nominations is posted on the ARC website. Members are selected for:

  • Excellence in research as well as a sound understanding of the utility of research
  • Broad disciplinary expertise
  • Professional and academic standing
  • Organisational skills
  • Relevant experience in industry or public sector organisation
  • Experience in coordination of research activity

Assessors

Successful applications in the ARC’s Discovery Projects (DP) and Linkage Projects (LP) programs are selected on the basis of expert peer review. Assessors can be readers whose research interests span the broad field/s of the research projects they are asked to assess, or experts in the specific field of a proposed research project and may read and rank up to 20 applications per year.

Assessors demonstrate:

  • Strong research performance
  • Evidence of good assessor performance
  • Relevant disciplinary expertise and standing
  • Evidence of ability to support the research of others

Assessor databases are continually updated and are used for all DP and LP schemes as required.

Using the ARC online application system RMS

As the ARC maintains contact with the College of Experts members and Assessors via email and by using RMS, it is particularly important to us that we have current information and contact details.
