Fellowships
The ARC funds research fellowships under Discovery, Linkage and Centres programs within the National Competitive Grants Program.
Postdoctoral Fellowships (APD)
APDs provide opportunities for researchers at the postdoctoral level to undertake research of national and international significance, and to broaden their research experience. ARC Postdoctoral Fellowships are available to researchers with up to three years' research experience since the award of the PhD or equivalent research doctorate.

Research Fellowships, Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship (ARF, QEII)
ARFs and QEIIs provide opportunities for established researchers to undertake research of national and international significance. QEIIs encourage research in Australia by postdoctoral graduates of exceptional promise and proven capacity for original work. Australian Research Fellowships (ARF) and Queen Elizabeth II Fellowships (QEII) are available to researchers with up to 8 years research experience since the award of the PhD or equivalent research doctorate. ARC Centre Fellowships (ACF) are also available under the Centres program.
Professorial Fellowships (APF)
APFs provide opportunities for outstanding researchers with proven international reputations to undertake research that is both of major importance in its field and of significant benefit to Australia. Australian Professorial Fellowships (APF) are available to researchers with more than 8 years’ research experience since the award of the PhD or equivalent research doctorate.
Australian Laureate Fellowships
The Australian Laureate Fellowships provide opportunities for world-class researchers and research leaders to key positions in Australia and create new rewards and incentives for the application of their talents.
It is expected that, through the Australian Laureate Fellowships, Australian and International researchers and research leaders will make a significant contribution to the generation of knowledge and the Australian innovation system. They will also assist with the development of stronger links between researchers, industry and the international research community.
Future Fellowships
ARC Future Fellowships provide opportunities for outstanding mid-career researchers working in areas of national priority and will significantly boost Australia’s research and innovation capacity. ARC Future Fellowships encourage research in Australia by the best and brightest Australian and international researchers who can demonstrate a capacity to build collaboration across industry and/or research institutions and/or with other disciplines. ARC Future Fellowships are available to researchers with 5 to 15 years research experience since the award of their PhD or equivalent research qualification.
