Researchers in Business

Through its Enterprise Connect Researchers in Business initiative, the Australian Government supports the placement of researchers from universities or public research agencies, into firms that wish to develop a new idea with commercial potential.

The aim of Researchers in Business (RiB) for Researchers and Universities is to:
  • Strengthen industry engagement;
  • Provide pre-Linkage project funding for established post doctoral researchers to develop medium to long term industry applied research and assist in making stronger and more competitive ARC grant submissions (i.e. a seed grant);
  • Provide opportunities for Early Career Researchers (ECR) and/or postgraduate students nearing completion to expand their expertise and spend significant time with industry in order to develop strategic relationships for future ARC grant submissions.

Funding Arrangements

Funding for up to 50 per cent of salary costs, to a maximum of $50,000, can be provided to eligible applicants. Placements can be for a period of 2 to 12 months. Grants are available all year round and are entitlement based, not competitive in nature
