On 24 October 2013, the ARC was pleased to be visited by Mr Md Anowarul Islam Sikder, Additional Secretary, MOA; Mr Md Siddiqur Rahman, Deputy Chief, MOA; Dr Khalequzzaman Akong Chowdhury, Member Director, BARC; Dr Sultan Ahmmed, Chief Scientific Officer, BARC; and Dr Abdur Razzaque, Project Director, BARC.

The MoA is one of the key ministries of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It compromises of seven wings with responsibilities of policy, formulation, planning, monitoring and administration. Sixteen agencies operate under this ministry and are responsible for the implementation of different projects and plans of the MOA.

The BARC is an autonomous organisation under the MOA. It was established in 1973 with the aim of coordinating systematic agricultural research in Bangladesh. It is the top body of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS).

The ARC and the Bangladesh delegation discussed areas funding and conducting Australian agricultural research, research governance processes, management systems and ARC's functions.
