Research Evaluation Committees (RECs)

The evaluation of data submitted for the 2009 ERA trials was undertaken by Research Evaluation Committees (RECs).

RECs are established at the discipline cluster level and comprise distinguished researchers with expertise in research evaluation.

Two RECs were established for the 2009 ERA trial, one for the Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences disciplines (Cluster One) and one for the Humanities and Creative Arts disciplines (Cluster Two).

For the full ERA in 2010, the ARC will establish eight RECs, one for each discipline cluster.

In identifying appropriate membership for the Cluster One and Cluster Two RECs for the 2009 ERA trial, the ARC drew on its own extensive databases and information networks for the names of outstanding individuals with experience in assessment processes and with appropriate discipline expertise.
