Scopus to provide citation information for ERA

Australian Research Council (ARC) CEO, Margaret Sheil, today announced that Scopus will provide citation information for the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative Cluster One evaluation.

“The ARC is committed to the development of a world-class research quality and evaluation system,” Professor Sheil said.

“ERA will evaluate research in Australian higher education institutions using a combination of indicators and expert review. Citation analysis is one of these indicators.

“The use of citation information will help to ensure a streamlined evaluation of research quality that is not burdensome to universities.

“When selecting Scopus, the ARC had regard to their coverage of relevant journals and potential costs to the sector.

“The ARC has arranged for the Scopus team to work directly with institutions, to match their publication records with unique article identifiers in the Scopus database.”

The cost of matching university publication records will be met by the ARC.
