Humanities and Creative Arts evaluation experts announced

ARC Chief Executive Officer Professor Margaret Sheil today appointed 22 distinguished researchers from the higher education sector to the Cluster Two Research Evaluation Committee for the 2009 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) trial.

“Cluster Two encompasses the Humanities and Creative Arts disciplines, which represent unique opportunities for testing in the trial,” Professor Sheil said.

“While quantitative information provides the main source for the provision of indicators in the evaluation process for ERA, Cluster Two will also utilise peer review.

“The 22 members of the Research Evaluation Committee are senior university academics whose expertise is broadly representative of disciplines in the Humanities and Creative Arts Cluster.

“Esteemed academic Professor Graeme Turner from The University of Queensland has been appointed as Chair of the Cluster Two Committee.

“As a world-leader in cultural and media studies, the ARC is pleased that Professor Turner has agreed to lead the Research Evaluation Committee.”
