The CoE's research will develop new frameworks for mineral and energy exploration based on fundamental advances in geodynamics and a new understanding of fluid transport at lithosphere scales. New, more powerful approaches to interpreting geophysical imagery will have applications to both basic science and resource exploration. A new educational structure will provide for a revitalisation of Australian research in the Earth Sciences and training of the next generation of research leaders, in a field vital to Australia's economy. Finally, we will raise the profile of Australian science internationally by innovative science producing new knowledge in rapidly advancing field.
