ERA 2012 to 2015 arrow

After the announcement of the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) 2012 evaluation outcomes in December 2012, the ARC commenced consultations with universities regarding the next round in 2015.

ARC staff have visited universities around the country to discuss the ERA 2012 results and the possible shape of ERA 2015. The discussions held at each university have proved invaluable for the ARC to understand the sector’s response to ERA and to refine the process.

During April the ARC also invited responses to a public consultation paper regarding the ERA submission process and aspects of the ERA evaluation methodology. Questions included how to streamline and improve the submission process, what rules should apply to research publications to be submitted to ERA, and the indicators which should be used to evaluate each academic discipline. Universities, individual academics, discipline groups and peak bodies provided a range of extremely useful feedback and suggestions for the next round of ERA. The ARC will study the responses carefully and will continue to consult with the sector regarding the issues canvassed before finalising the rules for ERA 2015.

If your university or discipline group would like a presentation from ARC staff and an opportunity to ask questions about ERA 2012 and ERA 2015, please contact the ERA helpdesk at era[@]arc.gov.au or phone 02 6287 6755. The ERA 2012 National Report is also available on the ARC website.
