ARC funding programs come under the umbrella of the National Competitive Grants Program. Schemes under the ARC Discovery Program fund individual researchers and projects through a variety of schemes, while schemes under the ARC Linkage Program help to broker partnerships between researchers and industry, government and community organisations as well as the international community.

ARC funding recommendations are made to the Minister responsible for research by the ARC CEO following independent and extensive competitive peer review by Australian and international experts (see the ARC Assessment Cycle page for more information).

The ARC, through the National Competitive Grants Program, funds hundreds of research projects each year and makes it a priority to liaise with administering organisations who have been awarded funding in managing those granst post-award.
