The Australian Research Council (ARC) will fund a new research initiative, the PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances)  Remediation Research Program (the Program) through the ARC’s Special Research Initiatives scheme. Up to $13 million in total funding is available to support a range of research projects.  


The Special Research Initiative: PFAS Remediation Research Program aims to facilitate the development of innovative technologies to investigate and remediate PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) contaminated media including soil and other solid contaminated debris, groundwater, waterways and marine systems.

  • Proposals Open: 14 December 2017
  • Request Not to Assess Close: 14 February 2018
  • Proposals Close: 28 February 2018
  • Rejoinders: 16 April 2018 to 23 April 2018
  • Anticipated announcement: Third quarter 2018
