A new research project led by Professor Klaus Neumann from Deakin University will recieve $343,932 through the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Projects scheme, to develop strategies to assist major Australian libraries to enhance their multicultural collections.

The project brings together the National Library of Australia, State Library of South Australia, State Library of Victoria and the State Library of New South Wales in a collaboration with Deakin University and RMIT University that will develop a new methodology for evaluating their collections of histories of Australia as a multicultural nation.

The research team will also develop new policies and strategies to develop and provide access to these collections. The project's goals include the enhancement of our understanding of Australia’s history and heritage, and of Australia’s identity as a multicultural nation.
