Grants commencing in 2017

  • The success rate for female participants was higher under the Australian Laureate Fellowships, Discovery Early Career Researcher Award, Future Fellowships and Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities schemes.
  • The success rate for women exceeded that of men in 12 out of 22 two-digit Field of Research (FoR) Divisions, including in six STEM disciplines.
  • The participation rate for women was significantly lower than men under all NCGP schemes.
  • The participation rates for women under the Future Fellowships scheme increased from 30 per cent in 2016 to 36.5 per cent and the success rate increased from 26.8 per cent to 38.3 per cent.
  • The success rates were higher for women Project Leaders / Fellows / Awardees compared to men in career stages ‹5 years, 5-10, 10-15, 15-20, 20-25 and 25-30 years post PhD and were similar for 30+ years at 21.5 compared to 20. 4 per cent.
