Grants commencing in 2018

  • Success rates for women Project Leaders were higher under the Australian Laureate Fellowships, Discovery Early Career Researcher Award, Discovery Indigenous, Discovery Projects, Industrial Transformation Training Centres, and Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities schemes.
  • The participation rate, which incorporates all named researchers on a proposal, of men was higher than the participation rate of women under all schemes; however, the success rate of women was higher in the Australian Laureate Fellowships, Discovery Early Career Researcher Award, Discovery Indigenous and Discovery Projects schemes.
  • Under the Discovery Indigenous scheme both the overall participation, and the success rates for women Project Leaders exceeded the male participation and Project Leader success rates.
  • There was a significant increase, compared to 2017, in the number of applications submitted by women for the Future Fellowships, Discovery Indigenous, Industrial Transformation Training Centres and Industrial Transformation Research Hubs schemes.
  • The success rate for women exceeded that of men in fifty percent of two digit Field of Research (FoR) Divisions across both HASS and STEM disciplines.
  • In FoR Division 01–Mathematical Sciences, the success rate for women was 40.5 per cent compared to 26.9 per cent for men; and had increased from 23.7 per cent in 2017.
