The participation rate, which incorporates all named researchers on an application, of men was higher than the participation rate of women under all schemes, except the Discovery Indigenous scheme.
Under the Discovery Indigenous scheme the overall participation and success rates, and the success rate for women Project Leaders, exceeded the participation and success rates for men.
The participation rates for women in most NCGP schemes continues to increase. Compared to 2018, rates have improved under the Australian Laureate Fellowships, Future Fellowships, Discovery Early Career Researcher Award, Discovery Projects, Industrial Transformation Research Hubs and Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities schemes.
The success rates for women participants were higher than the success rates for men under all ARC Schemes:

Future Fellowships,
Industrial Transformation Training Centres,
Industrial Transformation Research Hubs,

The success rates by Project Leaders that are women were higher for most ARC Schemes including:
Australian Laureate Fellowships,
Future Fellowships,
Discovery Early Career Researcher Award,
Discovery Indigenous,
Discovery Projects, and
Industrial Transformation Research Hubs.
The success rates for women were higher in 15 of 22 Field of Research (FoR) disciplines; including 10 of the 12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, despite participation rates in the STEM disciplines being significantly lower for women than men.
In FoR 03-Chemical Sciences, the number of applications received from women increased from 151 in 2018 to 188 in 2019, with a success rate of 30.3 per cent compared to 19.9 per cent in 2018.
The success rates for Future Fellowships were higher for salary levels one and two for women and higher for salary level three for men.
