In June 2018, the ARC invited new staff from Research Offices from all universities to a workshop in Canberra to learn about the ARC post-award functions and processes.

Over 60 participants attended the workshop, representing 35 universities. All ARC post-award staff participated, including key ARC senior executive staff.

The workshop included topics such as the Commonwealth Government compliance framework, Variations to Funding Agreements, End of Year Reporting (financial acquittals), Final Reports and Major Investments reporting requirements. The ARC provided presentations, information packs and case studies on the day, and answered a wide range of questions from the participants.

The ARC also had six guest speakers at the event, including four very experienced Research Administrators representing The University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of Newcastle and the University of the Sunshine Coast, and two representatives from the Canberra chapter of the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS).

The Chief Executive Officer of the ARC, Professor Sue Thomas, welcomed all attendees to the ARC and conveyed to participants why Research Office staff are very important stakeholders to the ARC. This event is part of the ARC's ongoing commitment to continue building effective working relationships with Research Office staff around Australia.
