Each year, the ARC hosts a one day gathering for all new Industrial Transformation Research Program (ITRP) Directors, which provides an important opportunity to network as a cohort as well as meet with key senior ARC staff that manage the ARC’s National Competitive Grants Program Major Investments.

This year’s induction meeting took place on 25 September 2018 at the ARC’s Canberra offices, with all 11 Directors attending, representing the seven new ITRP Training Centres and four ITRP Research Hubs awarded funding in 2018. The ARC staff gave an overview of ARC expectations of managing these types of large grants, the role of the Director, tips on essential business processes, and key post-award information on establishing an ARC Research Hub or Training Centre.

Guest speakers, Professor Veena Sahajwalla from the ARC ITRP Research Hub for Transforming Waste Directly in Cost-effective Green Manufacturing, and Professor Fariba Dehghani, Director of the ARC ITRP Training Centre for the Australian Food Processing Industry in the 21st Century shared their experience and provided the new Directors with key tips for establishing and managing these major investments.

Now into its third year, the meeting of the incoming ITRP Directors is proving to be a valuable opportunity to share corporate learnings.
