The ARC carries out maintenance of its Research Management System (RMS) in order to provide enhanced functionality to the system and to ensure that it remains secure. Outages are not related to the announcements of grants. If the scheduled timing of planned maintenance or updates is expected to clash with key National Competitive Grants Program activities, such as a deadlines for application submissions or rejoinders, we certainly take this into account and the work may be rescheduled to a more suitable time that will cause less interruption for users.

When do we update?

The ARC has defined the following usual maintenance windows for routine maintenance or upgrades to RMS:

  • The morning of the first Thursday of every month.
  • The morning of the third Thursday of every month.
  • The evening of the fourth Wednesday of every month.

Additional outages may occur when critical work is required.

What are we updating?

Updates can include:

  • enhancements to RMS functionality
  • implementation of new legislative requirements
  • security patches and improvements to keep data secure.

Some of these changes often come via feedback from the sector. If you have specific questions about RMS, or suggestions for future streamlining, please send an email to RMSSupport@arc.gov.au
