Launch of the ARC Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources

A new Research Training Centre based at The University of Adelaide will work to increase value in mining through innovative applications of ‘lean processing’ and train the next generation of scientists and engineers in advanced sensors and data analytics in complex resources.

Australian Research Council (ARC) Chief Executive Officer, Professor Sue Thomas, has welcomed the launch of the ARC Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources officially opened today at The University of Adelaide. The Training Centre is receiving $3.7 million in funding from the ARC over 4 years to develop and deliver vital enabling tools for automated, integrated and optimized mining.

Professor Thomas said the Training Centre, funded under the ARC’s Industrial Transformation Training Centres scheme, fosters close partnerships between researchers and end-users to provide innovative Higher Degree by Research and postdoctoral training for industries that are vital to Australia's future.

“ARC Training Centres play an important role in creating a place where researchers can collaborate with industry partners and participate in graduate level training in Industrial Transformation Priority areas,” said Professor Thomas.

“The ARC Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources will work to maximise productivity, reduce risk on product quality and train the next generation of highly qualified people capable of bridging the gap between the information and operations technology realms.”

Researchers in the ARC Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources will work closely with Curtin University and the University of South Australia – collaborating with other participating Australian and international organisations.
