NCGP scheme timelines for 2020-21
NCGP scheme timelines for 2020-21

While the Australian Research Council (ARC) is monitoring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic situation very closely, we are continuing to progress the National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP) grant application and peer review processes, as an important role of the ARC is to ensure we deliver funding outcomes that will support researchers in the recovery period and beyond.
To assist researchers and research administrators to plan for new applications rounds, the ARC has published the NCGP scheme timelines for 2020-21 on the ARC Grants Calendar.
The 2020-21 indicative key dates for the following ARC schemes have been published:
- Australian Laureate Fellowships 2021
- Industrial Transformation Training Centres 2021
- Industrial Transformation Research Hubs 2021
- Discovery Early Career Researcher Award 2022—rejoinder period confirmed
- Future Fellowships 2021
- Discovery Projects 2022
- Discovery Indigenous 2022
- Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities 2022
- Linkage Projects 2020 (Assessment Round 2)—updates to previously published dates
- Linkage Projects 2020 (Assessment Round 3)—updates to previously published dates
In developing the NCGP timelines each year, our aim is to minimise the overlap of major scheme activities as much as possible to balance workloads of researchers, research administrators and assessors. In addition to COVID-19 impacts, the ARC has also taken into account historical timelines, public holiday and major holiday periods, and the grant application periods for the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). The ARC has also considered advice received from Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Research) and Research Office Directors.
