A new ARC Linkage Project led by Professor Timoleon Sellis from the Swinburne University of Technology has received $782,874 in funding for multidisciplinary research across transportation engineering and data science, to address incident analysis and management in complex and multi-modal traffic networks.

Traffic incidents are among the primary concerns of all transport authorities around the world due to their significant negative impact on traffic congestion and delay, air and noise pollution, and management cost.

Drawing collaboration and additional support from two international universities and Data61, the intended outcomes of the project will be an innovative incident analysis and management framework that combines traffic data analytics and traffic simulation modelling. This will significantly help mitigate incident impacts on daily commuters.
