RMS access for the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy

The Research Management System (RMS) is a web-based system provided by the Australian Research Council (ARC).  The Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) uses this system to track and pay grantees from the NCRIS project grants.  

Accessing RMS

Registered DESE/NCRIS users can login using your email address and password at https://dese.researchgrants.gov.au.

To request a new account, go to https://dese.researchgrants.gov.au and click on the Request New Account link.  After you submit the account registration you will receive an email to validate your email address. Once your email address is validated the ARC can process your request. When your account is approved, the ARC will send a confirmation email enabling you to create a password and log on.  Please ensure that you review your personal details and complete all mandatory fields including your Indigenous status and citizenship details.

NOTE: If you have or have had an ARC-RMS account ( (i.e. applications in RMS submitted to the ARC for funding, or submissions in SEER for the Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) program) please do not request a DESE-RMS account.

RMS minimum requirements

RMS will be compatible with the latest versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Compatibility with different browsers or older versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Internet Explorer is not guaranteed.

Password security

To comply with the security requirements of all Australian government systems, and protect the information that is held in RMS, the ARC will enforce strict password controls in RMS, including the requirement to reset passwords every 90 days.
