FL250100099 – A next-generation water splitter for a green-hydrogen future
Professor Zhao aims to develop a new class of water-splitting devices to produce green hydrogen without fossil fuels. This project will create durable and efficient electrolysers using low-cost, abundant materials, designed to work with intermittent renewable energy sources like wind and solar. The research will generate fundamental insights into water electrolysis and deliver advanced materials for industrial use. By enabling scalable, affordable hydrogen production, the project supports Australia’s transition to a net-zero economy. It will also build research capacity, foster industry partnerships, and contribute to global decarbonisation efforts through innovation in clean energy technologies.
