Professor Tkalcic aims to revolutionise our understanding of planetary cores, which are vital to Earth’s magnetic field and thermal dynamics. This project will use advanced seismic imaging and new data to explore the Earth’s core and its interactions with upper layers, offering insights essential for sustaining life. As interplanetary missions expand, the research will also extend to the Moon, Mars, and icy moons, enhancing planetary science and Australia’s leadership in space exploration. The Fellowship will develop innovative techniques and models, foster international collaborations, and train a new generation of STEM experts. Outcomes will support space agencies, scientific institutions, and industry, reinforcing Australia’s role in Earth and planetary sciences.
