FL250100019 – New horizons for synthetic phages
Professor Edwards aims to develop innovative tools for designing and controlling bacteriophages—viruses that kill bacteria—to combat antibiotic resistance. This project will combine experimental and computational approaches to discover new phage functions, create synthetic phages, and improve genome annotation methods. The outcomes will support applications in human and animal health, agriculture, and environmental management. The research will contribute to global efforts to address antimicrobial resistance and open new commercial opportunities in the phage biotechnology sector.
