In 2024, the Australian Research Council (ARC) Board was appointed to strengthen transparency and independence in research funding. The Board works closely with the CEO to determine the priorities, strategies and policies for the ARC and oversees the approval of most grants under the National Competitive Grants Program. The ARC Board is supported by the ARC Advisory Committee and the ARC Indigenous Forum. This governance model delivers on recommendations from the independent review of the Australian Research Council Act 2001 and ensures decisions are guided by expertise, accountability and integrity. The ARC Board meets regularly, with the next meeting scheduled for 11 February 2026.
