The ARC contributes to the operation of Australian and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching (ANZCCART). This funding assists ANZCCART to provide leadership in developing community consensus on ethical, social and scientific issues relating to the use of animals in research and teaching. ANZCCART was established as a national forum for effective communication between groups concerned for the care and use of animals in research and teaching. It provides objective ethical and animal welfare advice to biological scientists in Australia and is widely recognised as an important source of information for scientists, animal technicians, members of animal ethics committees and government agencies.
