2017 Open Access Policy

The ARC Open Access Policy (2017) outlines requirements to ensure that research outputs from ARC-funded projects are made widely accessible to maximise their dissemination and impact.

  • Requires research outputs to be made openly accessible within 12 months of publication
  • Mandates that metadata be publicly available in an institutional repository within 3 months
  • Specifies acceptable output versions (e.g. post-print or published version) for open access
  • Encourages use of appropriate open licences (e.g. Creative Commons) to enable reuse
  • Outlines responsibilities for researchers and institutions to ensure compliance
  • Aims to maximise access, visibility, and benefit of publicly funded research
