2021 Open Access Policy

The ARC Open Access Policy outlines requirements to ensure that research outputs from ARC-funded projects are made openly accessible to maximise their visibility, reuse, and public benefit.

  • Requires research outputs to be made openly accessible within 12 months of publication
  • Mandates that metadata be publicly available in an institutional repository within 3 months
  • Specifies acceptable versions of outputs (e.g. author accepted manuscripts or published versions)
  • Encourages use of open licences (e.g. Creative Commons) to support reuse
  • Outlines responsibilities of researchers and institutions to ensure compliance
  • Aims to maximise access, dissemination, and impact of publicly funded research
