Media Release Date: 25 June 2025 The Australian Research Council (ARC) has today announced $46.6 million in funding for 75 new projects under the ARC’s Linkage Projects 2024 Round 2. ARC Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ute Roessner, said the scheme supports national and international research partnerships between researchers and business, community organisations and other publicly funded research agencies to deliver real-world outcomes for Australia.‘Linkage Projects are designed to forge long-term partnerships that harness research expertise to solve pressing national and global challenges,’ Professor Roessner said. ‘This latest round of funding supports projects that will help build Australia’s future, from advancing the transition to net zero, to promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems.’The Linkage Projects scheme is part of the ARC’s National Competitive Grants Program and provides funding to support projects that translate research into practical benefits, strengthening Australia’s innovation pipeline and boosting capabilities across sectors.This is the first funding round approved by the ARC Board, reflecting its legislated role under the Australian Research Council Act 2001 to oversee and approve funding recommendations. The move strengthens transparency and reinforces the ARC Board’s role in guiding the strategic direction of Australia’s research investment.The 75 successful projects span diverse research areas and involve collaboration with partners to identify new knowledge and innovative solutions.
