Media Release Date: 29 October 2025 The Australian Research Council (ARC) has announced more than $22 million in funding under the 2025 Round 1 ARC Linkage Projects scheme, supporting over 40 new collaborative research initiatives. This investment will strengthen partnerships between Australia’s leading researchers, industry, government, and the community, helping to address national challenges and deliver practical, real-world solutions. ARC Chief Executive Officer Professor Ute Roessner said the funded projects demonstrate the power of collaboration to deliver impact. ‘This funding enables researchers and their partners to develop solutions to national challenges—strengthening industries, supporting communities, and securing Australia’s future,' Professor Roessner said. Funded projects will explore a wide range of research areas including the development of predictive computational tools for critical metals extraction and recycling, to strategies for supporting regional migration and settlement, advancing bio-engineered carbon mineralisation and hydrogen production, and improving railway safety. Projects will also investigate digital security, educational practice and student wellbeing, agricultural technology, and workforce development, generating new knowledge with immediate and long-term value.
