Assurance Questionnaire

In 2023, the Australian Research Council (ARC) introduced the Assurance Questionnaire as a streamlined alternative to previous Institutional Compliance Reporting activities. Administering Organisations must complete the questionnaire annually, to certify that they are meeting conditions of National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP) grant agreements.

The ARC releases the Assurance Questionnaire to DVCR (or equivalent) on the first business day after 1 July each year.

The Assurance Questionnaire is designed to be high level and not seek details of individual issues at Administering Organisations. The questionnaire covers a broad range of assurance activities that Administering Organisations:

  • spend funding in accordance with grant guidelines and agreements
  • have grant management processes and research frameworks
  • have policies and procedures for management of conflict of interest, countering foreign interference and open access.

How to complete the Assurance Questionnaire

This guide provides Administering Organisations instructions on how to complete and submit the annual Assurance Questionnaire (questionnaire) within the ARC Research Management System (RMS).

The questionnaire will be provided to the Administering Organisation’s research offices through RMS and DVCRs will be notified by email. The questionnaire will then be certified through RMS by a user with the role type, Research Office Delegate. The questionnaire can only be submitted by the RO Delegate and viewed any time through RMS.

Use your email address and password to login to RMS. If you don’t have a user account, contact members of your university’s research office.

RMS is compatible with the latest versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. The ARC cannot guarantee compatibility with other browsers or older versions of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
