Media Release Date: 10 July 2025 The Australian Research Council (ARC) today announced $30.4 million in funding for 8 new projects under the ARC’s 2025 Industry Laureate Fellowships scheme. ARC Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ute Roessner, said the ARC Industry Fellowships Program is supporting academic researchers to build connections with industry, and industry-based researchers to contribute their expertise within university settings, helping address industry-identified challenges and opportunities. ‘These Industry Laureate Fellows will strengthen Australia’s research capacity and competitiveness by providing leadership in the development of high quality and impactful collaborations between university and industry personnel, and by mentoring early career researchers to develop industry translation and commercialisation skills,’ Professor Roessner said. ‘I am looking forward to seeing the exciting research outcomes and milestones achieved by these Fellows, and how these will be applied for the benefit of the Australian community.’ The new Fellows will lead research in a broad range of areas from addressing climate-driven loss and damage affecting Pacific Island communities and bringing together intelligent manufacturing concepts to build a world-first automated farming factory in Australia, to paving the way in developing new computational technologies to empower healthy living and ageing for Australian women. This announcement is one of the first rounds of schemes to be approved by the ARC Board, reflecting its legislated role under new the Australian Research Council Act 2001 to oversee and approve funding recommendations.
