Professor Kathryn Gilbey

Professor Kathryn Gilbey is an Alyawarre Arelhe with close kinship and family ties across Central Australia and is the acting Executive Dean of Higher Education and Research at Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.   

Professor Gilbey is an experienced academic and researcher with a PhD conferred in 2014, the Fulbright Cultural Competence Scholar in 2016.  

Associate Professor Michael Donovan

Associate Professor Donovan is a Gumbaynggir man from the north coast of NSW, but grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney.

Associate Professor Donovan joined La Trobe in September 2022 after holding several leadership roles at Macquarie University and the University of Newcastle, and has a strong track record in research and engagement – including life membership of the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG).

Associate Professor Donovan began his career as a nurse, before moving into education and obtaining his teaching degrees.

Professor Jonathan Bullen

Professor Jonathan Bullen is a Nyoongar (Wardandi) man from the south-west of Western Australia and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous at Griffith University. Previously he was Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Indigenous Advancement at Curtin University. He was also Chair of Curtin’s Indigenous Leadership Group, an Associate Professor within Curtin’s Faculty of Health Sciences and a Future Health Research & Innovation Translation Fellow. 

Associate Professor Brett Biles

Associate Professor Brett Biles is a Murrawarri man originally from Brewarrina. He has been living on Wiradjuri country for the last 20 years. Brett is the inaugural Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement and Research at UNSW. Brett has contributed to Indigenous health and wellbeing for the last 15 years. Prior to this role Brett was the inaugural Associate Dean Indigenous of the Faculty of Medicine and Health and a Senior Scientia Lecturer. Brett was also the inaugural Director of Indigenous Health Education in the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Professor Bronwyn Fredericks FAHA FASSA QAS

Professor Bronwyn Fredericks is an Indigenous woman from South-East Queensland with over 30 years of experience working in and with the tertiary sector, State and Federal Governments, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-based organisations. She is a Professor and The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) at The University of Queensland and maintains an active research program.

Professor Barry Judd

Professor Barry Judd is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) and Professor Indigenous Studies in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne.

In his role as DVC, Professor Judd has responsibility for institutional policy, strategy, and advice in relation to all aspects of Indigenous higher education.

As Professor Indigenous Studies, he provides academic leadership to the Program through undergraduate teaching, Higher Degree Research supervisions and research activity in support of this emerging field of studies.

Professor Peter Shergold AC

Prof Peter Shergold is Emeritus Chancellor at Western Sydney University. Formerly Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, he now chairs a range of public, private and community boards, including the NSW Education Standards Authority and the James Martin Institute for Public Policy.

Ms Sally-Ann Williams FTSE

Ms Williams has extensive experience in the technology sector, including strong research management, investment and commercial experience in science, engineering, and advanced manufacturing. She is currently the CEO of Cicada Innovations, Australia's oldest and largest deep tech incubator nurturing visionary innovators tackling global challenges through science and engineering. Beyond Cicada, Sally-Ann steered the Federal Government's Pathway to Diversity in STEM Review, and serves as a Non Executive Director on boards including Qudos Bank, and AusOcean.
