A new Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence will conduct world-leading research to investigate new ways of tackling social and economic disadvantage, and to better support Australian children and families.

On 1 February 2022, the Prime Minister announced the University Research Commercialisation Action Plan, a $2.2 billion investment to place university innovation and industry collaboration front and centre of Australia’s economic recovery. It was announced, as part of this Action Plan, that the Australian Research Council (ARC) will introduce three new Industry Fellowship schemes. The ARC’s new Industry Fellowship schemes will be supported through additional funding for the ARC’s flagship Linkage Program. These schemes will support researchers to develop cutting edge innovations and apply their research to addressing industry challenges. The fellowships will provide industry with increased access to individuals with strong technical skills, knowledge, and research capacity.
A new ARC research training centre will conduct world-leading research in drug discovery and development, to continue to train up a new generation of industry-ready researchers. Media release issued by the ARC—4 February 2022
